Labs21 Conference Explores Sustainability in the Heart of the Silicon Valley

The Laboratories for the 21^st Century (Labs21^®) 2008 Annual Conference will take place September 16–18, 2008, at the San Jose McEnery Convention Center in San Jose, California. This one-of-a-kind laboratory industry event is expected to draw more than 700 architects, engineers, facility managers, builders, and laboratory owners from around the world.

The Labs21 conference, co-sponsored by the International Institute for Sustainable Laboratories (I²SL), the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), and the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE), provides a unique forum for industry leaders and professionals to discuss the challenges and opportunities facing sustainable laboratory design, construction, and operation worldwide.

The conference agenda will feature:

• Informative technical and poster sessions
• Half-day symposia that cover topics including onsite renewables for labs, hospital air management systems, R&D campuses, and life-cycle cost accounting
• Technology and Services Fair showcasing a variety of innovative products and services from more than 60 vendors
• Optional events that include pre-conference training workshops and tours of local, sustainable high-tech facilities
• DataCenters21^TM, a new, full track of sessions and panel discussions dedicated to data centers.  In addition to technical presentations, DataCenters21 will include a full-day training workshop on Monday, September 15, followed by an evening tour and reception at one of the Silicon Valley’s premier data center facilities
